Nominations deadline approaching for the IWA Awards 2022
The nominations deadline for the 2022 edition of the prestigious IWA Awards programme is approaching fast, with 27 May 2022 as the date by which submissions need to be made for the Global Water Award, Gender Diversity and Water Award, Young Leadership Award, and the IWA Membership Awards.
IWA is committed to recognising the special contributions and achievements of its members and of water sector professionals generally around the world, and the invaluable contribution they all make to key innovations in water science and management. The IWA Awards programme provides a platform to celebrate those who shape the direction of the sector, featuring in particular the IWA Global Water Award.
Now is the time to nominate who you think are the outstanding individuals that IWA should recognise. The IWA Awards draw attention to the broad range of excellence, leadership and innovation that IWA members and network participants bring to both our Association and the industry at large.
Nominations are open for various awards categories:
- IWA Global Water Award – the most prestigious among the IWA Awards, it recognises an innovative leader who has made a significant contribution for a water-wise future
- IWA Gender Diversity and Water Award – celebrates contributions to progress on gender diversity and inclusion in the water sector
- IWA Young Leadership Award – is granted to an exceptional young water professional for their achievements, leadership and future potential.
- IWA Membership Awards – to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of IWA’s members who make significant contributions both to the IWA and to the water sector.
Nominations for these awards need to be submitted by 27 May 2022.

The Awards will be presented at the upcoming IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, to be held 11-15 September 2022 in Copenhagen.
Additionally, calls for nominations are also open for the ISME/IWA Bio Cluster Awards, which recognise the importance and impact of interdisciplinary research at the interface of microbial ecology, water & wastewater treatment and engineering sciences (deadline 1 May 2022).
